BLUES MAKE MOVES

The Jan 10th trade deadline was this past weekend and the Blues continued to restructure in looking forward to the future and upgrading for balance of the season.

Tyler Crawford was acquired from the Huntsville Otters.  "Crawford is one of the strongest 91's (18 yr olds) in the leauge this year in our opinion, and we've been working on getting him all year" commented AGM Chris Melnyk.  Crawford has 20 points in 28 games played this season.

Michael Gamache was acquired in return for Mike Bodley, one of the standouts this season.

"  Mike was a player and young man that we were proud to have with us.  I couldn't have asked anyhting more of him, and he couldnt have given anything more.  It's his last year in Jr hockey as he's 20 yrs old, and we felt as an organization getting him to a team where he can play as much hockey as possible was a priority" comments GM Darrell Mussell

" Chris Melnyk worked tirelessly on his deal and got him to North Bay where they are hosting the Dudley Hewitt this year...its a great opportunity for him and a reward for truly representing the Blues well"

"Getting Gamache is something we've been looking at for a while.  He's young and very skilled.  They did not give him up easily, but they need to get older players on the ice and this kid deserves to be on the ice....it worked out well for us.  He should be a point a game player for us next year"

Also being moved was forward PP Landry to St. St Marie for a future player.

"We have the player named and as part of our building, this will work out well without doubt" explained AGM Chris Melnyk  "He is well regarded, and once again we think we got a team that was willing to give up something they didnt want to.

A summary of the aggressive moves the team has made over the past few months shows the Blues acquiring Patsch, Gamache, Crawford, and Garner as well as 7 players named as futures for next season.

Obviously this team if building stongly for next season and determined to show Collingwood a winning team !
