BLUES "C" TRADED

Team Captain and leading points getter this season Andrew Ciampachini has been traded to the Couchiching Terriers in return for future players and forward Aaron Garner.

"Andrew is a quality player and young man with a great future in hockey" comments GM Darrell Mussell  " Its no secret its been a tough season, we had high expectation coming out of summer camps...and for a variety of reasons we are addressing it didnt work out.  But the work ethic and leadership of Andrew in the face of this adversity shows his character."

"This is a winning deal all around...for Andrew he goes to a team that has to be favored now in our league....for Couchiching they have several players leaving next season and are looking to be serious for the national title....and for Collingwood we have the opportunity now to see what our younger players can do AND have the security of knowingn we have some top end quality players coming to us next season"

And while the team has struggled, the Collingwood Blues hockey program has seen significant improvements...particularly in terms of promoting players.

" In the past 5 years I believe we've only had one player go to higher levels of hockey, Mike Schwindt now playing in the OHL with the Niagara Ice Dogs.  The past few years NCAA and OHL interest has been minimal....through extremely hard work by Myles and his staff we have serious interest in at least 5 current players for future opportunities"

" Andrew while having a tough year has several NCAA division one and three schools interested and we wouldnt be suprised at all if he gets a commitment by years end for D1 in 2011."
